New Year's Day in Panama |
Andy showing Grandmother how to use her smartphone
Tia Doris' travel agency On our way to stay at the beach. Panama Canal memorial Ceviche and Cerveza de Panama When we left Panama, we flew into Atlanta. The weather in Atlanta was very cold and icy. Because of this, many flights, including ours, were delayed. We hung out in the airport for much of the day. About an hour before our flight was to finally leave, Loren expressed that she was hungry and my Mom gave her a pack of cashews to eat. This was a new food for Loren and were were praising her for trying something new. The next thing we knew, she said her lips were burning. My Mommy instincts went straight to "allergic reaction!" However, Andy and my Mom were saying things like, "It's not an allergy. Her lips are chapped and some salt got in a little cut and is burning. We just came from hot, humid weather to cold dry weather." We ended up boarding the plane which was terribly overheated, and flew in to New Orleans. I saw it as a blessing that Loren fell asleep. When we were loading the car in NOLA, Loren went to buckle her seat belt and stated, "My tummy itches. I lifted up her shirt to check it out and saw this: My poor girl was indeed having an allergic reactions to the cashews and had hives. We administered Benadryl and drove home. The hives were gone the next day. We made an appointment with an allergist who confirmed she has a terrible allergy to tree nuts. She actually had to have an epipen administered in the allergist's office. Renee turned 40 on January 3rd and we went on a girls cruise! Zip lining in Mexico was certainly a highlight. On January 21st, we had some terrible weather which included hail. Some sort of Star Wars dress up day at School? 100th Day of School - little 100 year old lady. February When we were having our house built, Andy said to the construction supervisor, "Leave a 10-15 ft buffer." So they did. Then we decided we would like to utilize all our property. Andy rented a bulldozer and enjoyed clearing it himself, in the rain for the most part. Arden was our "Terrific Kid!" Daddy Daughter Brunch at church We went to Gatlinburg with the Miller family again. Unfortunately, I had a terrible eye infection and had to wear glasses (I removed them for this photo) the entire trip. When we arrived at the office which coordinated the cabins, the one we thought were would be staying in was not available. Supposedly it had been sold and the rental office contacted us but we did not get the message. The "management" (Lindsey!) was very rude and basically told us we were out of luck, everything was rented and they had no where for us to stay. Doug essentially called around and begged and we found two different cabins for the stay. We ended up posting a negative review and getting like 70% off plus free nights for another trip. While we were in Cade's Cove in Gatlinburg, Arden left her "kindness rock" that they made at school. I told my friend and School Counselor, Stacey, and Arden got to go on the morning show and tell about where she left her rock! February leaves you with more puppy love.
